Bridging the gap between two communities.
With the support of generous donations from Pat Gruber of the Gruber Foundation, Bridge-the-Gap has been able to provide electricity to the primary school of the Tibetan settlement in Bhandra, as well as a washing machine for the old people's home. At the old people home razor wire was also put up to prevent the monkeys from eating the vegetables.
Volunteering to teach English facilitated the bridging of the gap between the Indian and Tibetan schools, and to share their culture. The Tibetan school shared their facilities with the Indian village school.
Future initiatives include the re-starting of the handloom project, which will provide livelihood to young mothers and there are plans to build toilet facilities near the settlement's monastery.
